Missions: Updates on Myanmar and Tanzania

The Bible school graduated its fifth class of seniors (11 graduates). In addition, two honorary degrees were bestowed and two graduates were inducted into the Hebrews Eleven Hall of Fame for outstanding missionary service. “John” has planted a total of ten churches in his State and “Min” has planted three churches while evangelizing seven remote villages and starting home Bible study groups among the villages. Both men were trained one-on-one by Philip and sent out to remote areas before the Bible school was founded. Their missionary efforts exemplify the zeal and service the school wishes its new graduates to emulate.

Urgent prayer requests for Philip’s organization include the following: (1) An additional $648 to cover rent for the school building and boys’ dorm for the coming year ($3,000 has already been received). Due in lump sum in April ($304 per month plus one month for broker fee)
(2) Rent for the girls’ dorm of $2,366 ($182 per month plus one month for broker fee). Lump sum due in April.
(3) Rent for Philip’s family home of $3,688 ($304 per month plus one month for broker fee).

If you are called by God to help with this huge annual expense, you may send your check to Word Within International, Inc. at PO Box 33178, Tulsa 74153. Indicate “Philip” in the memo.

A couple of years ago, Word Within was contacted by a pastor in Tanzania about coming to hold a seminar in his country. To date, we have not been able to accept the invitation but we have kept in touch with the pastor. Last week we received an email requesting prayer for the Christians and pastors in the country who are being targeted by a gang of youths believed to be Muslim extremists. A pastor of an Assembly of God church and a Roman Catholic priest have recently been killed. There have been numerous churches burned to the ground starting in 2012 and continuing thus far in 2013.

The pastor has made the following request: “Pray that God may intervene in this situation, the protection of church leaders because their target now is Church Leaders, pray for the churches and that Christians may stand in the faith even to the point of death. Pray also for the government to be serious about this matter and find a solution.”

Believers in this part of Tanzania need our prayer support. Please join us in praying for this dear pastor and our brothers and sisters in Tanzania. Yohana has brought the message to us in a personal way and we are now sharing that message with you. May God do the same for them as he did for Paul (see “Persecution” on page 2). ”Out of them all, the Lord rescued
